In yoga, we work to strengthen our physical body through postures and breathing, but those same practices also affect our subtle energy body as well. This workshop will focus on the foundations of your energy system – prana, nadis, koshas and your seven chakras – and how they impact your physical body, emotions and thoughts. You will learn what “blocks” each chakra and practical strategies and postures to improve the flow of energy through your chakras for improved health and wellbeing.
The workshop will be led by Stephanie Trump Johnston from Free Spirit Yoga in Hershey. She began practicing yoga almost 25 years ago and has been teaching since 2000. She has completed over 2000 hours of training and is particularly interested in the relationship between psychological and yogic theories and in making yoga accessible to everyone.

Our weekend only format allows you to reach your goals without a significant impact to your family and/or job. The full year format provides ample time to integrate, practice, study, receive support and grow both as a person and a teacher. (We meet one weekend a month for a full year.)
From a former graduate:
"I have been practicing yoga for many years and knew that a YTT would deepen my understanding and commitment but I did not know how completely transforming this program would be. I am amazed how quickly and how deeply this transformation has been. I have discovered so many aspects of Yoga that I did not know about through this program. I truly feel that I am so much more well rounded and well versed. This program presents many styles and options, so that I am learning what is best for me to focus on. One of my favorite aspects of this program is that is supports the development of the individual and allows each student to find and develop their strengths. Who I am and my interests are honored and I am encouraged to delve more deeply into what is resonating with me. I love not feeling like I am expected to be like anyone else. Mandy creates a supportive environment that allows each student to feel safe in exploring and developing. Her ability to lead with gentleness and positivity is truly amazing to experience. She brings her seasoned teaching, supportive nature, and open heart to every session, further inspiring the students to go even further." Elisha

Shows 2pm & 8pm
Starring: Malena Ramirez
A teacher who runs her classroom with an iron fist, velvet glove not included! Banned, then censored in Brazil (the playwright’s homeland), Miss Margarida’s Way is a searing drama that looks deeply into the heart of power. Audiences and critics in over fifty countries have cheered this allegory about totalitarianism that uses a classroom as its central metaphor. Miss Margarida teaches, teases, and taunts her eighth-grade class through mathematics, geography, history, and her own private curriculum. Unbalanced by sexual frustrations she can only express in aggression toward her students, Miss Margarida is an engaging monster; a dictator with the audience as her student body.
Past Reviews
“Savage, mad, funny and ultimately moving [...] [Miss Margarida] is a grotesque, deranged and somehow perfectly normal school teacher [...]” – The New York Times
“A tour de force for an actress [...] part tirade, part political allegory, part expressionist vaudeville show.” – New York Daily News

The Society for Indian Music and Arts (SIMA) and its sister organization, Penn State Nritya, are very excited about our upcoming event, ‘Dhrupad Samaroh’, a three-day event celebrating ‘dhrupad’, India’s oldest genre of classical music. ‘Dhrupad Samaroh’ which literally means ‘a festival of dhrupad’ will be held October 19, 20, and 21, in 233 HUB-Robeson Center, Penn State University, and will feature performances by leading representatives of the style from India, as well as musicians who practice the art
form in the United States.
A contemplative style of music that gradually unfolds a raga (an Indian term for a melodic
mode), dhrupad originated in the Hindu temples of ancient India, and has its roots in the Vedas, the ancient texts of Hinduism. In the 1500s, because of historical circumstances, the music moved into the royal courts of India, and became a form of classical music that demanded musical and theoretical rigor. Today, dhrupad is a medium through which listeners and musicians experience a heightened sense of aesthetics, and tonal perfection.

To survive and thrive, we must all consume food everyday: eating is therefore one of the few universal human experiences. Beginning with this basic fact, a new exhibit featuring appetizing books, award-winning cookbooks, manuscripts and archival materials from the Penn State’s University Libraries’ Eberly Family Special Collections and the Libraries’ circulating collection of culinary art is on display through Jan. 13. The exhibit is located in the Special Collections Library, 104 Paterno Library, and in Sidewater Commons, located on the first floor of Pattee Library on the University Park campus.

Penn State University Libraries presents a new exhibit that explores the eastern U.S. forest, its wildlife, and botanical wealth, and gives special tribute to early women naturalists and conservationists. Featuring nature-related materials from the University Libraries’ life sciences, maps and archival collections, the exhibit runs until February 11, 2019 in the Diversity Studies Room, 203 Pattee Library, on the University Park campus.

Cindy Hassler and Ian Stainton
For Cynthia Hassler, woodblock printing is about the excitement of the
process where each step is a chance and the outcome is unpredictable.
Staring with objects or images that appeal to her by their shape,
colors and textures she looks for patterns within patterns and details
that will distort or abstract as the wood is cut away and each layer
of ink is applied. Through allowing the print to evolve, a snake skin
can become lace and feathers become trees or a landscape.
Ian Stainton
Ian Stainton will be showing hi-fired porcelain, made on the potters
wheel. Ian produces functional pottery such as bowls, vases, mugs etc.
in beautiful safe glazes.

Parent-Tot Yoga is a supportive, fun-loving, and active yoga class for early walkers – young 4 year olds and their parent/caregiver. This class is all about your new mover.
When: October 20th, 9am-4pm
Cost: 0. Space is limited. Register now on our website:

Join us for this one of a kind Yoga Alliance registered 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training program. A solid foundation in alignment and anatomy coupled with practical strategies to help students of all levels feel confident, and an in depth exploration of the 8 limbs of yoga give you the confidence you need to find your own voice as a teacher.

When mezzo-soprano Elīna Garanča and tenor Roberto Alagna joined forces for a new production of Carmen at the Met, the results were electrifying. Now this star duo reunites for another sensual French opera when they open the season in the title roles of Saint-Saëns’s biblical epic Samson et Dalila. Darko Tresnjak, who won a Tony Award for Best Direction of a Musical in 2014 for A Gentleman’s Guide to Love & Murder, makes his Met debut directing a vivid, seductive staging, featuring a monumental setting for the last-act Temple of Dagon, where the hero crushes his Philistine enemies. Sir Mark Elder conducts the first new Met production of the work in 20 years.
Comprised of some of the most exquisite musical moments in French opera, Camille Saint-Saens’ Samson and Delilah is his most commonly performed work of the genre. Experience its sumptuous, sweeping romance at the Met’s exciting world premiere of Tony winning Broadway director Darko Tresnjak’s new production, featuring the palpable on-stage chemistry of celebrated Latvian mezzo-soprano Elina Granca and French tenor Roberto Alagna.
Samson and Delilah tells the story of the biblical parable, in which Israelite leader Samson becomes a thorn in the side of local Philistine ruler Abimelech’s side when he incites rebellion amongst the Hebrew slaves. Blessed by God with incredible strength, Samson courts tragedy when he is ensnared by the beauty of Dagon priestess Delilah, leading to a breath-taking aural and visual climax in the opera’s final act.

The Fall Harvest Festival is returning in 2018 as the Enchanted Halloween Trail and Festival!
Shaver’s Creek comes alive in late October with this community festival that celebrates the fall harvest, and includes pumpkin carving, face painting, music, entertainment, activities, natural history programs, great food, and the Enchanted Halloween Trail!
The tradition of the Shaver’s Creek Halloween Trail goes back over 25 years! The trail does not portray the typical scariness with which Halloween is normally associated. The Shaver’s Creek Trail is truly a family event!
Children (and their families) are led by guides to different sites along the trail with costumed characters who help children understand the season and the cultural items we use to depict it. Children learn about natural history associated with Halloween, like why we use images of owls, spiders, corn stalks, and pumpkins during this time of year. The walk lasts about 45 minutes to one hour. The Halloween Trail stations are staffed by Penn State students, bringing outstanding energy and creativity to the festival. Each year they create new, exciting, and activity-filled stations that cover topics such as pumpkin and jack-o-lantern folklore, the nonscary truth behind bats and spiders, the origin of trick-or-treat, and more.
Visitors enter the nonscary interpretive trail every half hour, beginning at 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. We encourage guests to call ahead to purchase tickets for a specific time.

Ballet Magnificat, World's Premier Christian Ballet Company, is coming to Central PA! All ages are invited to enjoy the "Prodigal's Journey,” a story of hope and forgiveness. Are you looking for things to do? Join us at the beautiful Mifflin County High School Auditorium for an evening performance.
Founded in 1986, Ballet Magnificat has performed before an estimated 12 million people around the world. Today Ballet Magnificat has grown to include two touring companies, a Summer Dance Intensive, and a School of the Arts located in Jackson, MS.
A Washington Post writer says, “There’s no denying the emotional power of this company....These dancers have the kind of lit-from-within presence rarely seen outside the premier companies...” We are excited to welcome back Abbey and Ashley Helsel, alumni from PASCP, the State College area, and Grace Prep High School as Company Artists in the Alpha Tour Group. Ashley is currently a student at PSU World Campus fulfilling her dream of career and education.
The Alpha touring group from Ballet Magnificat will be in State College from Oct. 17-Oct. 21. They will be holding workshops and Master Classes in local dance studios, including PASCP, for 3 afternoons and evenings prior to the "Prodigal's Journey" performance in Lewistown. We expect a sold-out 1300 seat Mifflin County High School Auditorium due to the wide range of dedicated followers who will be excited to travel to enjoy the performance. Although a one-time 7:00 professional ballet, this event will draw excitement and travelers during the days prior to the ballet. Purchase online tickets at balletmagtickets.eventbrite.com

Meet at the beach. The Lake Loop is a 3/4 mile flat trail, which has some roots crossing it.
Please do not bring a bright flashlight to use on the trail, but you may want one to travel back and forth to your vehicle. Bright white lights will not be allowed on the trail. The Friends of Black Moshannon will be selling finger lights for . They will have 1300 lights available. All proceeds will benefit the playground at the beach. Other light sources you could bring would be bright glow sticks (green seems to work best) and red lights. Donations will be accepted. The registration table will be at the beach house, where liability forms will need to be signed.
The walks will start at 7:00 pm and each leader will be taking 30 to 40 people in a group. The last group will leave at 9:00 pm. This means you can show up anytime between 7 pm and 9 pm to get in line.
There will be a campfire on the beach to enjoy while waiting to go on the hike. Marshmallows will be available to roast while they last.

King Solomon & Queen Sheba were floating down the Bald Eagle when they saw the old abandon building and decided to regain their rightful place on the throne. But, that dreaded Gremlin has re-appeared and caused a lot of mischief for the King and Queen. Oh and watch out for the large dragon that circles the old Mansion.
